DAY 1 Arriving in Tbilisi / Checking in Hotel. Overnight in Tbilisi, DAY 2 TBILISI TOUR Breakfast in Hotel and the Program of the day. Metekhi Church – an ancient family church for Georgian kings, here we keep the relics of St. Shushanic. She was an early medieval Armenian Christian martyr, who was murdered by her husband Varsken for defending her right to profess Christianity, it happened in town of Tsurtavi, Georgia. Tbilisi Sioni Cathedral, place where the Cross of St. Nino, evangelist of Georgia is kept. It was initially built in the VI and finished in the VII centuries. Since then, it was destroyed by foreign invaders and reconstructed several times. The current church is based on version from the XIII century with some changes from the XVII to XIX centuries. Sioni Cathedral was the main Georgian Orthodox Cathedral and the seat of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II until the Holy Trinity Cathedral was consecrated in 2004. Bodbe Monastery – place where the relics of St. Nino, evangelist of Georgia, is buried. Bodbe Monastery is built among tall Cypress trees on a steep hillside overlooking the Alazani Valley, where it opens views of the Greater Caucasus mountains. There, 3 km from the convent you can visit St. Nino’s Spring, which, according to local legend, was emerged through Nino’s prayers and is believed to have a healing power. Departure transfer to Tbilisi Overnight in Tbilisi,   DAY 5 TOUR TO MTSKHETA AND KAZBEGI. Mtskheta - Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century) and Jvari Monastery (6th century) in Mtskheta are amongst the most significant monuments of Georgian Christian architecture, and are historically significant in the development of medieval architecture throughout the Caucasus. Samtavro Temple – here the first Georgian Christian King Mirian and Queen Nana are buried. It was built on site of kings’ luxury garden by King Mirian, the garden where St. Nino the evangelist of Georgia lived and preached. In her memory King Mirian built a chapel, still well-maintained nowadays. There are a lot of relics of saints saved in Samtavro temple, among them are relics of St. Father Gabriel Ugrebadze, who was canonized on December 20th of 2012. Heading to Kazbegi. On the way you will see Ananuri Castle, River Jinvali;  overnight stay in Kazbegi. Jvari Monastery (Monastery of the Cross) This monastery complex was constructed in the 6th century, near the confluence of the Mtkvari (Kura) and Aragvi rivers. It owes its name to the grapevine cross which St Nino planted here to mark Georgia’s conversion to the new faith. Departure transfer to Kutaisi   Overnight in Kutaisi DAY 4 Kutaisi – Bagrati Cathedral – Gelati Monastery – Akhatlsikhe Bagrati Church  – (11th c). It is an old  architectural monument of Kutaisi. Nowadays only ruins are left from the church. One of the UNESCO heritage sites. Gelati Complex comprises the churches of the Virgin (the main church), of St Nicolas, of St. George, as well as the academy which was the centre of cultural and spiritual life. The Gelaty monastery complex was founded by King David the Builder in the 12th c. It is noted by the finest examples of Georgian mural painting. Among them is the only surviving portrait of King David the Builder whose grave can be found at the gateway of the monastery. The giant 12th century mosaic of the Virgin with Child is completely unique.
